Foam fire extinguisher – Class A and B fires

Designed to tackle Class A and B fires – such as those fuelled by wood, paper, petrol, paint, or spirits – foam fire extinguishers work by creating a blanket of foam on activation to suppress the flames. The foam will also permeate any fabric, allowing the water in the foam to evaporate and act as a cooling agent to stop a fire from reigniting.

Also known as AFFF extinguishers, foam fire extinguishers will usually have a cream-coloured band around the top of the canister, ensuring that they are clearly identifiable.
